school days

Even though it was 113 degrees here in Arizona today, and even though school started weeks ago for us, September always gets me in a nostalgic, back-to-school kind of mood.  Ahhh, the crisp autumn air, the new shoes, the smell of library books and crayons.  Happy September, everyone!

fall mini sessions | samples

Here are some examples of what to expect from my Fall mini sessions this year.  My husband has been working so hard to build this wood set and I think it's amazing!!!  For the mini sessions you'll have a choice of three different looks: this vintage gold sofa with burlap banner and poms, my aqua velvet sofa with a multicolored vintage hankie banner, or my new vintage orange sofa with a vintage doily banner.  You can find all the details on the mini sessions, as well as booking information on my availability page.

And just like they are with standard sessions, beautiful holiday cards are available with the minis!

california road trip | vintage finds

I took a refreshing little road trip to Thousand Oaks last weekend on my own and I loved driving through the beautiful rolling hills right near where I grew up.  I even visited my childhood home and elementary school.  Ahhh, memories!

But the main reason for my excusion was to attend an amazing vintage sale, and boy did I score some great stuff!  I also made it to a few antique markets in the area as well.  Here's a peek at only a few of the many amazing finds from my trip. I'm so excited to start using these treasures in some photo shoots!

warm and lovely | engagement session

Everything about this session is so warm and happy. Such a sweet couple, cute dog... and the dress! I am seriously loving this dress! And here is a little peek at the pinwheels I mentioned on Facebook. My husband and I actually made fourteen of them. That's a lot of cutting! But totally worth it. I'm looking forward to using them in some future sessions as well.

couture | family session

Meet Shayce of Chateau Coture and her beautiful little family! I have admired this lady ever since I first saw her. She has an unmistakable presence that stands out in a crowd and makes you take notice! I so love the way she styled this session. I'm not surprised though because she is an amazing designer. You have to check out her website. I know you will fall in love with her dramatic yet whimsical style, just like I have!

featured | shabby blogs

I am so blessed to have been able to meet sweet Megan of Shabby Blogs! Though she lives in Michigan, she scheduled a session with me while she was here for the holidays and I had a great time capturing her lovely little family. As if that wasn't wonderful enough... she has asked me to become part of the Shabby Blogs team and I'm so very excited and humbled to work with her! She is such a doll and I was so charmed by her and her family, even just in the short time I spent with them.

And if you are one of the very few people on earth who have not yet discovered Shabby Blogs, head over to the website and check out all the amazing, free, fabulous stuff to beautify your blog!

blossoming | mesa family session

Ok, I LOVE this session! I love the location. I love the warm sunlight that highlights the glow of pregnancy. And I really love this captivating couple. I'm so happy to give them these beautiful images to remember this once-in-a-lifetime experience of their first pregnancy.

my family | the little ones

I really could not be more happy with the way this session turned out and I will always treasure these images of my kidlets.

I have been really excited to do this session with my sweet kids and have been planning it out in my head for months! I knew it would be challenging as they can be difficult to photograph... my daughter is still so young and is entering that very independant stage where she doesn't like to be "directed" at all, and my little boy with Autism doesn't quite get the whole point of taking pictures. He just wants to run around and explore! Not quite unlike a typical four-year-old, I guess. My husband was out of town, so I enlisted the help of my mom and step-dad. They were awesome and I couldn't have done it without them!

I also had in mind the end result of a big wall display above our sofa. I needed nine vertical images. Actually, the empty frames have been on the wall for a month now! They're arranged in a staggered, random looking display, not a straight grid the way they are pictured here. I promise I'll post a picture of it in the next couple of months, once the rest of the decorating is complete!
